Cozy Nooks + Crannies

Claim a seat on one of the expansive patios with your coffee and notebook. Settle in by a firepit after dinner, spread a blanket at a picnic spot, or find a stargazing nook when the sky clears. Drift down to the lakeside Quiet Cabin for a nap or a book binge, follow the garden paths where the butterflies hang out. There’s always the perfect spot that fits your mood.

what retreat alumni say

Chelsea

"I’ve been on a lot of writing retreats, but this was something magical. This is the first time I’ve felt comfortable and seen and not judged. Lauren fostered an environment of compassion, learning, and fun. I’ve never had a better time among fellow writers."

Briana

"My biggest takeaway from this experience was the opportunity to travel to a new destination with like-minded individuals while gaining valuable insights into the different Enneagram types—and learning how to apply that knowledge to character development in my writing as well as to dynamics in my personal relationships."

Alissa

"I loved feeling seen (I’m a nine). I felt like I could come downstairs in my pjs and no makeup to a group of accepting and loving friends. I had free time to do what I wanted and felt like I could walk up to anyone and join their conversation (which is something I really struggle with)."

FAQs

Have a question about the Haven that isn't listed here? Email lauren@thewritetype.co and I'll be happy to answer!

  • The Retreat blends craft with exploration and excursions, often abroad. The Immersive goes deep on craft with breakout workshops and live story problem-solving in smaller groups. The Haven is the most personalized of the three, built around your type and your project, with a plan we map before you arrive, a curated schedule, numerous 1:1 sessions, as well as some educational and group work thrown in.

  • After you register, we get you typed, then map what you’re writing, where resistance shows up for your type, and what accountability looks like for you, as well as a few 1:1 sessions before arrival day. You come with a personalized plan layered into educational and community time.

  • Yes. Your curated schedule includes protected writing time, and restoration time is built into every day.

  • Absolutely. Choose the Shared King Bed Room when you register. I'll follow up with a survey with room requests.

  • Yes. We’ll send a form after you register so the chefs can plan around your needs.

  • The closest major airport is Portland (PDX), and the property is about 35 miles from Portland. Ground transportation isn’t included, and we can help coordinate carpools. We share the exact address with registered writers and rideshares are also an option. There is plenty of parking if you'd like to rent a car.

  • We strongly recommend travel insurance to cover your expenses if something comes up.
